Something isn’t working.
Let’s work out why.
I’m Tristan, a clinical psychologist providing practical online therapy for adults and teenagers aged 15+ across Australia. We’ll make sense of what’s happening and decide what to do next.
No referral needed to book. Medicare rebates are available with a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan.
WHO I WORK WITH
The people I see most
Adults whose minds won’t switch off
Work's fine, family's fine, everything looks fine from the outside. But the overthinking, the flat patches, the 3am replays are wearing you down. We work out what's actually going on and what to do about it.
Adolescents aged 15+ and their parents
School pressure, anxiety, low mood, or simply not feeling like themselves. I work with teenagers directly by video, which many find more comfortable. For young men especially, it can help to have a steady adult in their corner who isn’t a parent or teacher. Parents stay in the loop where appropriate.
Neurodivergent clients and NDIS participants
ADHD and autistic teens and adults, including NDIS participants (self-managed and plan-managed). Telehealth cuts the travel, the waiting room and a lot of the sensory load.
Men's health
A lot of men carry things for a long time. Stress, pressure, drinking that's crept up, relationship difficulties, the challenges of fatherhood, or feeling stretched by work. The hardest part is usually starting. Here, that's just a conversation.
And wherever you are, rural, regional, FIFO, or just nowhere near a psychologist with capacity, your postcode doesn’t decide your care.
HOW IT WORKS
Three steps, no runaround
1
Book in
Ready to start? Book a first appointment. Prefer to meet me first? Book a free 15-minute call instead. You ask anything - there's no cost or obligation. If I'm not the right person to help, I'll do my best to point you in a better direction.
2
Get set up
No referral is needed to book. If you’d like to claim Medicare rebates, book a longer appointment with your GP and ask for a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral to Tristan Duggan, Clinical Psychologist. Your GP can fax the referral and plan to (08) 6289 8613.
3
Start sessions
50 minutes by secure video from wherever suits you. You need a device, a private space, and nothing else.
ABOUT ME
One psychologist, on purpose
I'm a clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience working with adults and adolescents. My approach is practical and direct. We figure out what's actually going on, agree on what we're working toward, and use approaches with good evidence behind them, mainly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapies. You'll always know why we're doing what we're doing.
This practice is intentionally telehealth-only. Sessions happen from your own space, which for a lot of people means therapy actually fits into life: no travel, no waiting room, easier to keep the rhythm going week to week. Teenagers in particular often find video sessions easier to open up in than an office.
Before this, I founded and ran a multi-site psychology practice in Adelaide, working alongside a team of talented clinicians before stepping back in 2025. These days I keep it deliberately simple: one psychologist, a small caseload, and the time to know the people I work with properly.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Things people ask before booking
Does telehealth actually work as well as in person?
For most people and most concerns, yes. The research comparing video-based therapy with in-person therapy consistently finds similar outcomes, and it's the format my practice is built around rather than an add-on. Some situations do need in-person or more intensive care, and if that's you, I'll say so and help you find it.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly and start whenever you're ready. A GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan are only needed if you want the Medicare rebate, and I'll tell you exactly what to ask your GP for.
Is it private and secure?
Sessions are run on Cliniko, with video encrypted and nothing recorded without your permission. What you share stays between us, within the standard limits of confidentiality that apply to all psychologists, and I'll explain exactly what those are in plain language in our first session.
I’ve never done therapy before and I’m nervous.
That's most people, and it's exactly what the free 15-minute call is for. No forms, no commitment, just a conversation to see whether this feels comfortable for you. You get a sense of how I work before deciding anything.
Do you see teenagers, and how are parents involved?
I see young people aged 15 and over. Parents are invited to attend the first session with their child. After that, sessions are with the teenager directly, and what they share stays confidential, because that's what makes therapy work at this age. I keep parents in the loop on how things are going and how they can help, and I'll always involve you if there's a safety concern.
What happens in the first session?
We go through what's brought you here, what's going on day to day, and what you want to be different. By the end you'll know what I think is going on and how I'd suggest we approach it. From there it's your call.
Can you see clients anywhere in Australia?
I work with people right across Australia, though I'm not able to take on new clients in parts of South Australia. If you're SA-based, just mention it when you book the free 15-minute call and we'll sort it out in two minutes. If I can't help you, I'll point you toward someone good who can.
Are there situations where this service isn't right?
Telehealth isn’t the right setting for every situation. I don’t provide crisis support, eating disorder treatment, legal or forensic assessments, or treatment for people who need more intensive support due to immediate safety concerns. If you’re unsure, you’re welcome to book a free 15-minute call. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll be straightforward about that and, where possible, point you towards a more appropriate service.
